James Baynes, Sr Obituary

James Cason “Jimmy” Baynes, Sr., age 60, of Union Point, GA, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at his residence. Born in Fulton County on March 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Haron Gatewood Baynes, Jr. and Marie Lloyd Cason Baynes. He graduated from Greensboro High School in the class of 1967, where he played both football and baseball. In 1969, he married the former Kay Tuggle of Union Point. Jimmy attended Auburn for a year and then transferred to Georgia College, where he also played baseball. Jimmy graduated in 1971 with a degree in business. His working career began at Chipman Union, then he was employed by Perky Cap Company and owned a boat store. At the time of his death, he was working for Horton Components in Eatonton as a manager. He was a former president of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce. Jimmy enjoyed horseback riding and golf. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Kay Tuggle Baynes of Union Point, GA; three sons, Casey Baynes and wife Tracy of Watkinsville, GA, Jim Baynes and wife Lisa of Union Point, GA and Adam Baynes and wife Jamison of Madison, GA; four grandchildren, J. C. Baynes, Kati Baynes, Emma Baynes and Aly Baynes; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Haron Gatewood “Gatey” Baynes, III. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Serving as pallbearers are James Wall, Larry Smith, Robert Moon, Gene Garland, Matt Garland and Ben Garland. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
