Jack Eubanks Obituary

Jack Wallace “Jackie” Eubanks passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Savannah Court of Lake Oconee in Greensboro at the age of 82.  Jackie was born on March 17, 1938 in Washington, GA to the late Jack Walter Eubanks, and Velma Corbin Eubanks.  He received his education from Washington High School where he played basketball and was All State in football. He attended The Citadel in Charleston, SC for a year and then he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for over thirty-three years and retired as Command Master Chief in May 1991.  When he retired from the military he made his home in Greensboro where he has lived until his death.  He spent much of his time watching Charles Stanley videos and reading all of Stanley’s books, watching sports of any kind but he especially loved college football and The Georgia Bulldogs.  His greatest love was his family especially his children and grandchildren and he would make several trips each year to Florida to visit them until he couldn’t anymore.  He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his son Scott Eubanks in 2014.  Survivors include a daughter, Shauna Eubanks Mathews and her husband Phil of Pace, FL; four grandchildren, Philip Mathews III (Nikole), Lauren Mathews Byrd (Jeremy), Amanda Mathews and Scott Eubanks, Jr.; five great grandsons: Philip Mathews IV, Easton Byrd, Cohen Byrd, Mason Mathews and Cooper Mathews; other relatives and many friends.
