Isaac "Ike" Moore

Homer Isaac “Ike” Moore of White Plains, GA died Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, GA, at the age of 77. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born April 9, 1947 in Sandersville, GA, the son of the late Homer Isaac Moore, Jr. and Sadye Stapleton Moore. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School in the class of 1965. Ike married Donna Price at the White Plains Baptist Church December 3, 1972. He worked for the State of Georgia in the Department of Agriculture as a Field Inspector retiring in 2005. He was a very active and faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church. Over the years he served in numerous positions as a deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association and the White Plains Volunteer Fire Department. After retirement he enjoyed farming and being with his family whom he loved dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Price Moore of White Plains, GA; daughter, Rachel Atkins (Steven) of Sharpsburg, GA; son, Isaac Moore of Greensboro, GA; seven grandchildren Ethan Ortlauf, Jack Ortlauf, Wesley Atkins, Emerson Atkins, Zachary Atkins, Joshua Atkins and Anna Atkins; sister, Nancy Chapman and husband Bill of Bradenton, FL; and a number of other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Sadye June Corry.

 Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Doug Nelms, Rev. Bill Schmidt, and Rev. Craig Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are William Coleman, Wayne Taylor, Larry Veazey, Marvin Bell, Andy Moore, and Bob Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the White Plains Baptist Church deacons.The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time for the service. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
