Inez Suddeth Wilson, age 108, of Penfield, Georgia died Friday, August 29, 2003 at Athens Heritage Home. Born in Madison County on May 11, 1895, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Richard Suddeth and Malinda Catherine Porter Suddeth. She attended Greshamville School and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point. As a homemaker, she was a loving wife and devoted mother who always put her family first. She enjoyed cooking and until four years ago got up early every morning to make old fashioned biscuits from scratch. Always adventurous, she took her first airplane ride at age 97. She was an active participant in the University of Georgia Centenarian Study Program. Living a span of over three centuries, she has witnessed numerous innovations and changes.
She is survived by a daughter, Annette Wilson Harper of Athens, Georgia; granddaughter, Elaine Harper Sparks of Tampa, Florida; daughter-in-law, Delores G. Wilson of Greensboro, Georgia; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Wilson in 1961; a son, Herman Hugh Wilson in 2001; two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point with Rev. Colin Duncan and Rev. Crist Camden officiating. Burial will follow at Penfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Farmer, Hubert Mize, Gerald Strozier, Ashley Edwards, John Osborne and Ed Ogletree. The family requests that any memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 252, Union Point, Georgia 30669. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
