Inez (Stephens) Self

    Inez Stephens Self, age 82 of Greensboro, GA, where she has lived for the past fifty-one years, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Madison Health and Rehab with her loving family.  Inez was born April 22, 1942, in Morgan County, one of eleven children of the late Roy Elisha Stephens and Dessie Lorene Parr Stephens.  She was baptized in the Methodist faith at an early age. She began her working career with Morgan Sportswear and after moving to Greensboro she worked for Bryan Scott, a division of Chipman Union. After retiring, she attended Athens Technical College and earned her GED as well as an associate degree in Early Childhood Development and later received her certification as a Parapro. Then she worked for the Greene County Board of Education at the Union Point Elementary School as a teacher’s assistant. Family meant so much to her and she truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Another passion she had was being outside doing yard work.
    Inez is survived by her children, Teresa Lynn Self Canup and Johnny of Greensboro, GA, Tammy Self Brown and Dwayne of Union Point, GA, and Douglas Wade Self of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren: Crystal Blevins and Gary of Madison, GA, Kevin Hubbard, Jr. of Greensboro, GA, Wayne Brown and Tarsha of Union Point, GA, David Brown and Ashley, and Stephen Brown of Union Point, GA; step-grandchildren, Johnny Ray Canup, Jr. and Rebekah of Athens, GA and Michael Canup and Robin of Greensboro, GA; great grandchildren: Lacey Blevins, Mason Blevins, and Brantley Blevins of Madison, GA, Cami Brown of Union Point, GA, Delaney Brown, and Kayleigh Brown; step-great grandchild, Hunter Canup of Athens, GA; sisters, Ruby Stewart and Eddie, Jane Laseter; brother Jimmy Stephens; and a number of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Self; siblings: Grace Healey (Harry), Leila Folds (Clyde), Sara Doster (Roy), Francis Mathis (Lloyd), Frank Stephens (Bonnie), Jack Stephens (Wendy) and Gene Stephens (Beverly).
    Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA, 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McCommons Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Hubbard, Jr., Wayne Brown, David Brown, Brian Blevins, Gary Blevins and C.
