Hugh Tony Ayers died at his residence on July 8, 2020, at the age of 81. Born in Eatonton, GA on April 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Moses Clyde Ayers and Doris Batchelor Ayers. On May 15, 1960, he married the former Flora Annette Wallace who preceded him in death in April of 2008. In 1961 he began working for Enterprise Aluminum in Eatonton and retired as an electrician in 1989. Hugh was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greensboro. Camping was his favorite activity especially when he was with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Whittaker (James), Rena Whittaker (Torrey), and a son Keith Ayers (Elizabeth) all of Eatonton, GA; brother, Samuel Ayers (Linda); eight grandchildren, Jason Whittaker (Chelsea), Jeremy Ayers,(Melissa), Kristina Whittaker Mashburn (Ryan), Sara Ayers McAllister (Chris), Brent Whittaker (Jamie), Holly Ayers Thrift (Vince), Daniel Mitchell (Jennifer), and Sara Michell Riley (Adam); nineteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
The family will have a graveside service to Celebrate his Life on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Eatonton Memorial Park, Godfrey Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Rev. Bobby Bear officiating.
