Henry Davis Edwards

Henry Davis Edwards of Greensboro, Georgia died on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA at the age of 78.  Henry was born in Crawfordville, GA on June 3, 1944, the son of the late Daniel Littleton “Jack” Edwards and Mary Elizabeth Davis Edwards. He grew up in Crawfordville and graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute. Over his working career he worked for Union Manufacturing, Universal Rundle and Alma Plastics. After fourteen years of service he retired from the Union Point Elementary School as their custodian. He was known as (Papa Bear) to all the children at the school. Henry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Union Point. He loved his savior, family and friends.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and always shared the fruits and vegetables that he grew. He loved to play baseball where he was the catcher.  Most of all he loved helping others, both his family and friends and just anyone who needed help.

He is survived by Thomas Edwards (Ashley) of Greensboro, GA, Sandy Meek (David) of Siloam, GA, Texan Wayne Edwards of Siloam, GA, widow daughter in-law, Erica Edwards (Shawn) and sister, Priscilla Dingler (Ed) of Union Point, GA; seven stepchildren; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his  sons, Daniel Parker Edwards and Shawn Prescott Edwards; siblings, Julia Nell Moore Barnes, Mary Virginia Edwards Dingler, Eula Mae Mobley, John Lee Edwards, William Daniel Edwards.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Lhowe officiating followed by burial at Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery, 3040 Sandy Cross Road NW, Crawfordville, GA 30631. Serving as pallbearers are Darryl Kitchens, Bill Mobley, Austen Mobley, David Meeks, Donna Kay Dingler, Priscilla Murphy and Texan Wayne Edwards. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
