Helen Valters Obituary

Helen Elaine Valters (nee Midkiff) born December 15, 1941, passed away on June 28, 2024 after a sudden illness.

Born in San Antonio Texas she moved around quite a bit due to her father’s work as an engineer. This probably fueled her love of travel and adventure. She raised her family in Chicago before moving to Georgia in 2021. She always put her family first and when it was her time, she lived her life doing the things she loved most with the people she loved most. Her love of travel took her from St. Louis jazz concerts to European river cruises and it all started with a trip to the Caribbean with her husband and their dear friends they had for over 40 years. Together with her sisters-in-law, Laura and Lynn they were nicknamed the Golden Girls and continued to travel the world extensively. She loved her life in Georgia filled with friends and new adventures. An amazing selfless wife, mother, sister, auntie and grammy.

She loved as fiercely as she lived. Beloved mother of Laura Valters, Wally (Kristin) Valters, Linda (Steve) Scaggs, Donna (David) Kern. Dear sister of Neil (Katherine) Midkiff, the late Price (Aase) Midkiff. A devoted grandmother to Jordan, Gianna, Olivia (Joe)van Schoonhoven, Katie and Elizabeth. A great grandmother of two.

She is preceded in death by her parents Price and Mary Helen Midkiff, her brother Price and her husband Walter of 57 years. A beautiful soul, loved by so many and missed by all. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
