Hazel Ann Rowe Dennis, age 84, of Greensboro, GA died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Augusta University Medical Center. Born November 4, 1938 in Covington, GA she was the daughter of the late James Edward Rowe and Sarah Stringfellow Rowe. Hazel attended school at Covington Junior High School and graduated from Newton County High School with the class of 1956. After high school she attended nursing school at Athens Tech. On March 31, 1962 she married Donald Robert Dennis, Sr. and they attended New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. For many years she worked with her husband as his bookkeeper for D D Construction Company. Hazel spent much of her time studying Astrology and Horoscopes. When she was younger she loved to dance, swim, and skate. She cherished most her family and friends .
Survivors include her sons, Jack Edward Dennis, Donald Robert “Bobby” Dennis, Jr. and William Paul “Billy” Dennis (Melissa); sister, Nancy Eley (Larry – deceased); brother, James Edward “Eddie” Rowe, Jr. (Peggy); grandchildren, Davin Christian Young, Caitlyn Joyce Russell, Lauren Elizabeth Dennis, Sierra Ashlyn Dennis, Ava Grace Dennis, Dakota Dennis, Michael Christian Leach, Bert Hutchinson, Abby Bunch, and Jackson Thomas Dennis; great grandchild, Avery Russell; and a host of other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert Dennis, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. Graveside will follow in the Covington Mill Cemetery, Highway 278, Covington, GA at 2:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Alley, Jonathon Clifton, Raymond Arthur, Chris Merritt, Tracey Merritt, and Alan Webb.
