Harold Wilson Obituary

Harold Davis Wilson died on January 22, 2026 at his home in Greensboro, Georgia. Harold was born in Greene County Georgia on July 18, 1930 to Henry Fitzpatrick and Millie McGinty Wilson. On January 6, 1952 Harold married Flossie Avis Greene and was married to her until her death in 1989. For a number of years Harold worked on a construction crew and helped build many of the roads in Greene County. In 1952 Harold began working at the Robins Air Force base in Warner Robins, Georgia and worked there for eight years. In 1960 Harold and his family moved back to Greene County and he started raising beef cattle and opened a small engine sales and repair service business (Wilson Repair Shop). One of Harold’s favorite hobbies was flying airplanes. When he was a teenager he paid two dollars to ride in an old bi-plane that had landed at a grass strip near the site of the old Greensboro Lumber Company. Harold never lost his love for flying and in 1957 received his pilots license. Over the years he owned and flew several different types of airplanes with his favorite being a 1950 Cessna 170.

Harold served as a director of the Greene County Civil Defense (GEMA), served two separate terms on the Greene County Airport Authority, served fifteen years on the North East Georgia Regional Development Center (RDC Board of Directors), served as an auxiliary police officer and served on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board. Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a Mason (San Marino Lodge #34) for over fifty years.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Joseph Henry Wilson and a grandson Joseph (Joey) Norris, Jr. Harold is survived by daughters, Virginia Wilson Norris (Mike), Ann Wilson and Donna Wilson, sisters Julia Wilson McCannon and Martha Wilson Nelms, grandson Stephen Norris (Shelly), great granddaughters Katie, Lilly and Abbie Norris, great grandson Joseph (Trey) Norris III, special friend Loretta Whittaker and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank each of the caregivers who gave him such loving care.
