Hal Stanton Ogletree, Jr., 72, of Crawfordville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington, GA. Hal was born July 9, 1951 in Washington, GA to the late Hal (Hoke) Stanton Ogletree, Sr. and Melba Taylor Ogletree. He grew up in Crawfordville and graduated from John Hancock Academy in Sparta, GA and attended Brewton Parker College. He ran a successful rental business in Daytona, Florida, renting out most anything you could use on the beach. In the late eighties he returned to Crawfordville and operated several convenience stores and restaurants. He was a longtime member of Robinson Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed sports, horseshoes and frisbees. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hal (Hoke) and Melba Ogletree and a daughter, Nancy Rice. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Gail Short of Crawfordville, GA; his children, Brittnie Taylor Ogletree, Nickie Vining (Steve) and Shelly Thompson (Butch); grandchildren, Lacey Bryant (Michael), Toby Batson (Doc), Lindsay Channell (Seth), Josh Batson (Amanda), Cory Silvey (Rolanda), Kimberly Rojo (Sinfo) and Dylan Luke Wilson; great grandchildren, Kiya Bryant, Kaleb Bryant, Brealyn Marable, Avery Channell, Hattie Channell, Connor Silvey, Logan Silvey, Wesley Silvey, Nathan Silvey, Syrus Rojo and Matias Rojo; sister, Bonnie Ogletree Flynt (Ralph Hoke) of Crawfordville, GA; nephews, Stan Flynt (Petra) and Scott Flynt both of Alpharetta, GA; great nephews, Stanton, Peter and Hoke Flynt; other relatives and many friends.
The family will hold a Celebration of Hal’s Life at Ralph Hoke and Bonnie Flynt’s home, 1232 Greensboro Road NW, Crawfordville, GA 30631 on Saturday, June 29th at 1:00 p.m. Any memorials may be made to the Taliaferro County Fire Department, 122 Broad St., Crawfordville, GA 30631.
