Gwendolyn Hughes Obituary

Gwendolyn Parrott Hughes, age 87, of Greensboro, GA died Monday, February 9, 2004 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. She was born August 7, 1916 to the late John Thomas Parrott and Mittie Ann Bryan Parrott. She attended Greensboro High School and during her working career was a sewer at several different textile plants. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.

She is survived by a son, Sanford Mayfield of Rio Vista TX; a sister, Martha Kramm of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Hughes; and a son, Herman Mayfield.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery with Howell Cobb officiating. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
