Gretchen (Small) Ott

Gretchen Small Ott of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family, at the age of 90.  Born July 18, 1930 in Lansing, MI, she was the daughter of the late George Samuel Small and Jessie Cleone Wright Small.  Gretchen graduated from Adrian High School, Adrian, Michigan.  On March 4, 1950, she married Arthur Leonard Ott, Jr. in Angola, IN.  They lived in a variety of places but came to Greensboro, GA in 1982 where she worked as the clerk for the Greene County Commissioners and later was the office manager for Quail International and Cotton’s Corner.  The things she enjoyed most were reading, knitting, playing bridge and especially being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She created a lot of memories with her family going to visit them or on beach trips.  She also had a great love for animals.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro, GA.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Ott of Greensboro, GA; children, Brian Samuel Ott (Laurie) of Bisbee, AZ; Julie Branyan (Timothy) of Union Point, GA, Wanda Jean Sause of Greensboro, GA and brother, Terence Small (Phyllis) of Waynesboro, NC; grandchildren: Kristie Grimm (Curt), Adrian Jenkins, Justin Ott (Kim), Lindsey Stone (Keith), Adrian Ott (Naoko), April Rhoades, and John Hinton Branyan; great grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Berkley, Hadley, Mackenzie, Sadie, Tristan, Abigail, Evelyn, Amelia and Ella; niece, Laura Ann Greene; nephew, Scott Samuel Small (Julie); a number of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her son, John Arthur Ott. 

A Family Service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro, GA 30642 with Pastor Curt Grimm officiating.  Interment will be Friday at Oakwood Cemetery, 333 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221.  The family requests that any memorials be made to the Oconee Regional Humane Society, 1020 Park Avenue Suite 101, Greensboro, GA 30642 or to the charity of your choice.  The family would like to thank Regency Southern Care Hospice for the care they gave Gretchen.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
