George Kelly Dixon

George Kelly Dixon, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the age of 42 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Athens, Georgia, following an extended illness. He was born in Decatur, Georgia on August 13, 1970, the son of Beth Wilkes Dixon and Emory D. Dixon, Jr. of Greensboro, Georgia. He graduated from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia in 1998. He worked as an Environmental Consultant for Land Management Group in Wilmington, North Carolina. He attended St. Gregory Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia. Kelly loved fishing, photography, astronomy, hiking, camping, playing guitar and spending time with his boys.

In addition to his devoted parents, Beth Wilkes Dixon and Emory D. Dixon, Jr. of Greensboro, Georgia, Kelly is survived by two cherished sons, Gavin Wilkes Dixon and Owen Kelly Dixon, and their mother, Laura Rader, all of Quinton, Virginia; three brothers, Emory D. Dixon III and wife Ruth of Buford, Georgia, Scott Wilkes Dixon and wife Vickie of Denville, New Jersey, and Alex Leon Dixon and wife Julie of Lagrange, Georgia; and seven nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Rev. David F. Ridenhour officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to the Shepherd Spinal Center, 2020 Peachtree Road Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30309 or St. Mary''s Foundation, 1230 Baxter Street, Athens GA 30606-3791 for St. Mary''s Hospice House.
