George Adam Andrews of Greensboro, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation in Union Point, Georgia at the age of 86. George, a lifelong resident of Greene County was born on March 3, 1938, to the late Cortez Andrews, Sr. and Addie Belle Andrews. George graduated from Greensboro High School and upon graduation, he did contract work with the Postal Service, worked for Mary Leila Cotton Mill, and retired from Orkin Exterminating Company. He was a kind, gentle man who loved his family and in his later years of dementia became happy and excited when his granddaughter Mary Ashley and great grandchildren Landon and Caleb face-timed him. George loved working in the garden and enjoyed many hours on his tractors and enjoyed planting vegetables for his family and others. When he wasn’t on his tractors, he enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the mountains. He attended Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church.
George is survived by his wife Pansy Davis Andrews of Greensboro, daughter, Judy Andrews Marable, son in law, Blane Marable, granddaughter, Mary Ashley Marable Young and husband Tim Young and great grandchildren Caleb Young and Landon Young. He leaves behind two remaining sisters, Ella Mae Nash of Madison, Georgia and Delores Andrews Galloway of Tallapoosa, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his siblings, Cortez Andrews, Jr., Willie Ford Andrews, Virginia Gheesling, Ida Merritt, Mattie Hopkins, Nona Tolbert, and John Andrews.
Services will be held in the Chapel of McCommons Funeral Home at 109 West Broad Street, Greensboro, Georgia on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2 PM with Reverend Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8 from 1 PM-2 PM prior to the service. McCommons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Special appreciation to the staff of Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation and the caregivers who supported the family during the 5 years of his declining health due to a stroke and dementia.
