G. Richard Heinen of Greensboro, Georgia, entered into rest Thursday, February 13, 2025, at The Glen on Lake Oconee with his son, John at his side. He was 97. Son of the late Otto P. Heinen and Alma Van Hoven Heinen, he was born on August 12, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota,
He married the love of his life, Madonna Heinen, on September 6, 1952 in Barrington, Illinois, and had a wonderful marriage for sixty-seven years until her death in 2019.
Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force during World War II serving in Germany. After serving from October 17, 1944 to February 22, 1947 he received an honorable discharge as a Corporal. He also served in the National Guard receiving an honorable discharge on August 4, 1950. Richard was employed with Talon Zippers as regional vice president and retired December 15, 1989. Seven years ago they moved from Hudson, Florida and settled permanently on Lake Oconee in Greensboro in 2018. He was a giving man and always put others first with a special emphasis on family.
Besides his loving wife Madonna, he was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Heinen; his sisters, Patricia Heinen and Rita Heinen; and brother, Peter Heinen.
Survivors include his four sons: John Heinen (Allison) of Greensboro, GA, Richard Heinen (Barbara) of Crystal Beach, FL, Michael Heinen (Laurie Beach) of Mooresville, NC, Stephen Heinen (Tammy) of Gainesville, GA and a daughter, Kathy White of Gainesville, GA; eleven grandchildren; Hans Heinen (Apopka, FL), Seth Heinen (Mooresville, NC), Steven Heinen (Mooresville, NC), Linsey Rivers (Flowery Branch, GA), Keith White (Daytona Beach, FL), Chris White (Garland, TX), Hurst Heinen (Gainesville, GA), Carson Heinen (Gainesville, GA), Hannah Heinen (Greensboro, GA), Hailey Heinen (Greensboro, GA), Chelsea Muse (Houston, TX); thirteen great grandchildren, Vander Heinen (Orlando, FL), Riley Rivers (Flowery Branch, GA), Wyatt Rivers (Flowery Branch, GA), Everett Rivers (Flowery Branch, GA), Westley White (Palm Coast, FL), Jacob White (Palm Coast, FL), Augustus White (Palm Coast, FL), Asher White (Garland, TX), Lincoln White (Garland, TX), Kennedy Muse (Houston, TX), Morgan Muse (Houston, TX), Lyla Heinen (Gainesville, GA), and Luke Heinen (Gainesville, GA); other relatives and many friends.
