Francis Thomas “Skillet” Mullins, age 89, of Jackson, GA, formerly of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Westbury Medical Care Home, Inc. in Jackson, GA. A native of Greene County, he was born October 5, 1922 in Penfield, GA to the late Luther Thomas “Tom” Mullins and Mattie Sue Wilson Mullins. He attended Greensboro High School and served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. His working career began with Atlanta-Union Point Trucking as a truck driver and ended with Southeastern where he retired in 1987 after forty-two years. On January 1, 1947 he married the former Ethel Moore and this year they celebrated their sixty-fifth anniversary. His hobbies included gardening and woodworking and he made many beautiful pieces for friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Moore Mullins of Jackson, GA; daughter, Rebecca "Becky” Merritt and husband Ted of Jackson, GA; son, Tony Mullins and wife Rosie of Locust Grove, GA; son-in-law, Johnny Hoek of Jackson, GA; sister, Charlotte Mullins Shepard and husband Billy of Ashburn, GA; brother, William Alvin Mullins of Greensboro, GA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; a number of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Hoek; two sisters, Minnie Agness Luck and Sarah Wright; and two brothers, Harry Vaughn Mullins and Leonard Mullins.
Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Kelly, Rob Lunsford, Jody Hoek, Eric Merritt, Deven Mullins and Chad Hoek.
