Funeral services for Frances Grace Acree Rhodes, a native of Union Point, GA and widow of Ralph Lanier Rhodes, Sr. will be Tuesday, January 1st at 11 o''clock at the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point with Rev. Dr. James Choomack and Rev. Stephen Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Wisteria Cemetery. Mrs. Rhodes, 90, the daughter of the late John Howard Acree and Luna Mae Roland Acree, died December 30th after a brief illness.
She is survived by her son, Ralph Lanier Rhodes, mayor of Union Point and his wife Jill; daughter, Mrs. William Moses Bond (Teri) of Atlanta; grandchildren are Dr. Kimberly Ham (Terry) of Perry, Ralph Lanier Rhodes, III (Summer) of Greensboro and John Wesley Rhodes, also Mrs. William Thomas Garrett (Kelly) of Savannah and Mrs. Paul Armand Calame (Memory) of Atlanta; sister, Ethel Acree Morgan. and eleven great grandchildren survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Howard Acree, and two sisters, Lucille Acree Dolvin and Nell Acree Powers.
Mrs. Rhodes was an avid bridge player and golfer and active in many Presbyterian church activities including Women of the Church and the Communion Committee. She was a past member of the Union Point Garden Club, the Revitalization of Union Point and the Memory Stone Committees.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Lanier (Trey) Rhodes III, John Wesley Rhodes, Dr. William Garrett, Paul A. Calame, Dr. Terry Eugene Ham, James Morgan (Jimmy) Scott and David Goodwin Kopp. Honorary pallbearers are all active and inactive Elders of the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The First Presbyterian Church, 201 Veazey Street, Union Point, GA 30669. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday night at the Family''s home in Union Point. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
