Ewing Edward Hunter, Sr.

Ewing Edward Hunter, Sr., age 77, of Penfield, GA passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his wife and three children.  Ewing was born January 13, 1939 in Atlanta, GA to the late Clarence Edward Hunter and Doris Ewing Hunter.  Ewing graduated from Druid Hills High School in 1957.  After graduation, he entered into the United States Air Force Reserve where he proudly served his country for six years receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.  He received his undergraduate and Master Degree's from Georgia Tech in Industrial Management. He went on to be a professor at Georgia Tech for several years after. On June 14, 1960 he married his High School Sweetheart Gloria Black.  For many years he was the owner and operator of a successful Ferrari dealership, FAF Motorcars in Tucker, GA.  They first came to Greensboro in 1980 and moved here permanently twenty-four years ago.  After moving to Greensboro from Tucker, he sold real estate for Coldwell Banker. He was a past President of the Lake Country Board of Realtors, retiring in 2011.  Ewing had many hobbies, talents and passions, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with friends.  He also enjoyed traveling, sports cars, hunting and was a loyal Georgia Tech football fan.  Ewing was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.  He was an extraordinaire storyteller and was adored and respected by all who knew him.  Ewing was a member of Walker United Methodist Church. 

In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Gloria Hunter of Penfield, GA, Ewing is survived by his three children,  Eddie Hunter, Jr. (Tammy) of Ball Ground, GA, Margie Hunter Kidd (Robbie) of Knoxville, TN, and Jamie Hunter (Jenny) of Canton, GA; seven grandchildren, Hannah Hunter, Taylor Kidd, Hunter Kidd, Hayley Hunter, Ewing Hunter III, J. T. Hunter and Jessica Hunter; and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Hunter.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. John Pike and Stacy Burton officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service at their home in Penfield.  The family requests that any memorials be made in Ewing Edward Hunter, Sr.’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
