Evelyn Mae Whitaker

Evelyn Mae “Bebe” Whitaker, age 85, of Greensboro, GA died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Willow Run Retirement Home. She was born in Spalding County on June 8, 1919 to the late Lucian Griggs Whitaker and Eva Mae Greene Whitaker. She was a graduate of Girls High School in Atlanta and went to Business School in Atlanta. For 53 years, from May of 1941 until March of 1994, she was an accountant for Atlanta Gas Light Company. She was a member of West End Baptist Church of Atlanta. Since January of 1999 she had lived at Willow Run Retirement Home in Greensboro. Survivors include three nieces, Evelyn W. Beeland and husband Bob of Greensboro, GA, Lucia Ramsey and husband Gaylon of Albany, GA and Deborah Whitaker of Columbia, SC; two great nieces, Wendi Dahlin of Jackson, GA and Lisa Seymour of Leesburg, GA; two great nephews, Jay Beeland of Greensboro, GA and Jeffrey Ramsey of Atlanta, GA; two great-great nieces, Emily Seymour of Leesburg, GA and Megan Dahlin of Jackson, GA; a great-great nephew, Jacob Seymour of Leesburg, GA; a sister-in-law, Margie Whitaker of Albany, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sadie Lou Whitaker Wilson and a brother, Lucian George Whitaker. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point with Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip and Cliff Graham officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Cotton Boswell, Ricky Newsom, Ray Copelan, Dr. W. H. Rhodes, William Myers, Richard Newsom and Hoyt Kearns. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Atlanta Gas Light Company and the staff of Willow Run Retirement Home. The family requests that any memorials be made in memory of Evelyn “Bebe” Whitaker to Willow Run Retirement Home, 1061 Willow Run Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.
