Evelyn Elizabeth Wilson Beeland of Greensboro, GA passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional. Born on May 31, 1941 in Atlanta, GA she was the daughter of the late Eddie Jay Wilson and Sadie Lou Whitaker Wilson. She graduated from Brown High School in Atlanta, GA. She married Bobby Gene Beeland of Greensboro on December 10, 1960 after meeting him on a blind date. However he knew what she looked like from a picture from the Miss Atlanta Pageant where she won Miss Congeniality. While living in Atlanta she did print modeling for Rich’s. After moving to Greene County she worked for BankSouth which was then Citizens Union Bank, The Farmers Bank and was the administrative assistant for Gro Industries. Evelyn loved spending time with her family and being out in the community. She also enjoyed cooking and decorating her home for every season and holiday. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She gave of her time to family and friends and many enjoyed the multiple Bible Studies she taught in her home. She was a member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church.
Before moving back to Greensboro, she and her husband Bob served in several churches. They worked with the youth at Beechaven Baptist Church in Athens, GA. She was the financial secretary, preschool teacher and assistant director at Wieuca Road Baptist Church, and worked with the youth and served as Minister of Education at Buckhead Baptist Church. They continued to serve after moving to Greensboro at First Baptist Church in Union Point as Minister of Music and Youth, directed the children’s choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Union Point and more recently was the Minister of Music and Youth at the White Plains Baptist Church. Evelyn was also the Women’s Ministry Director at the First Baptist Church in Greensboro where she directed “Daughters of the King”.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, Bob Beeland of Greensboro, GA, she is survived by a daughter, Wendi Dahlin and husband Danny of Jackson, GA; a son, Jay Beeland of Greensboro, GA and granddaughter, Megan Dahlin; other relatives and many friends.
Due to increment weather a Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 1971 South Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
