Eva Oline Copelan Duvall Smith, 83, of the Greshamville Community died Monday, June 1, 2009 at Mews Retirement Center in Social Circle, GA. She was born July 31, 1925 in Greene County to the late Jasper Frazier Copelan, Sr. and Willie Hester Adams Copelan. She attended elementary school in Greshamville, high school in Greensboro and graduated from Commercial High School in Savannah, GA in 1942. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker who loved to read and sew and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman L. Duvall, her second husband, Wilbur "Mutt" Smith; and siblings, Frazier Copelan Jr., Emory Copelan, Mary Willie Phelps and Elizabeth Thomas. She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Duvall Miller and husband Steve of Greshamville and two sons, Danny Duvall and wife Roberta of Greshamville and Tim Duvall and wife Henrietta of Greshamville; a sister, Dottie Jarrard and husband Roscoe of Greensboro; sisters-in-law, Dean Copelan of Greshamville and Myrtle Copelan of Greshamville; six grandsons, Robert Duvall and wife Brittany, Shane Duvall, Caleb Duvall, Evan Duvall, Clay Duvall and Chad Miller; a great grandchild, Taylor Miller; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Durell Rice officiating. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons and nephews: Shane Duvall, Robert Duvall, Caleb Duvall, Evan Duvall, Clay Duvall, Chad Miller, Jackie Copelan and Wynn Copelan. Honorary pallbearers are Robbie Thomas, Smitty Phelps, Reggie Jarrard, Mike Jarrard, Rodney Jarrard, George Copelan, Zippy Duvall, Harold Duvall and Jerry Duvall. The family requests that memorials be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650.
