Eugene “Red” McAllister lost his battle with Parkinson’s on March 13, 2024, in Greensboro, Georgia. He was born in Genesee Township, Penn. on August 18, 1937. He resided in Wellsville, New York until he enlisted in the Air Force as a member of the Military Police. He was stationed in Homestead, Florida, where he met his wife Ann and made it his home. In 1959, Red joined the Homestead Police Department as a motorcycle officer. In 1962, he was promoted to Detective. In 1968, Red was honored as Officer of the Year. For the following three decades, he served as Chief of Police for the Miami-Dade School Police Department. Red loved his church and was an active Silver Palm United Methodist Church member, teaching the adult Sunday school for over 40 years.
Red is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes McAllister, two sisters, Phyllis and Rachel, two brothers, Don and Corky, and a son-in-law, Chuck Fitch. Red is survived by his wife, Ann, one brother, Ron, and three children, Becky Fitch, Cissy D’Azevedo (Jim), and Rick McAllister (Mindy). Three grandchildren: Jimmy (Michelle), Julie (Shane), and Eric; six great-grandchildren: Steven (Bella), Alexis (Dan), Nicholas, Hailey, Kylie, and Emily; and a large extended family.
