Emma Jean Lunsford Cook, age 96, of Gray, GA formerly of Greensboro, GA passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the Coliseum Medical Centers in Macon, GA. Born in Siloam, GA on July 25, 1924, she was one of nine children born to the late Clifford Kilpatrick Lunsford and Mary Adelene Rhodes Lunsford. As a child she grew up in Siloam where she attended Siloam School and graduated from high school in Greensboro. After graduating she moved to Atlanta and worked for Davidson Paxon Department Store. After returning to Greensboro, she married Omer Willie Cook, Jr. on October 13, 1945. She then worked for Bickers and Goodwin, Dr. William Walker, Allied Mills and later helped her husband at Cook’s Wrecker Service managing the bus terminal. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. She enjoyed reading, working word find puzzles, listening to country and gospel music and playing bingo.
Survivors include her sons, Fred Cook and his wife Zandy of Greensboro, GA and Dennis Cook and his wife Alethea of Gray, GA; grandchildren, Angie Simpson (Kevin), Blake Cook (Lauren), Beth Cook, Brittany Davis (Brock), Brent Cook, Cameron Cook, Kayti Rinauro (Sal), Christopher Tillery (Kelly) and Beth Greene (Robert); 13 great grandchildren; sister, Dianne Woods; brothers, Clayton Lunsford and Ricky Lunsford; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Omer Cook, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Clifford K. Lunsford, Jr., Walter Lunsford, Marguerite Whitehead, Hilda Moore, and Kathleen Lunsford.
Graveside Services will be held, Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665 with Rev. Michael Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 203 S.
