Emma Hall Obituary

Emma Jones Hall, age 82, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Emma was born in Cordele, GA on April 28, 1931. She was the youngest daughter of Robert Wick and Mary Frances Jones. She was a graduate of Cordele High School and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA. Upon graduation from college Emma taught school at Newnan High School and married Farrell Adams Hall. They moved to Athens where Farrell was a student at the University of Georgia. While living in Athens Emma worked for the Admissions office at the University in the summer and taught school at Athens High School for 3 years. After Farrell graduated from the University of Georgia, they moved to East Point, GA.

Emma worked as Secretary to the Southern Regional Manager of Cluett Peabody & Company. After leaving Cluett Peabody, Emma stayed home to be with her children. Later Emma went to work for Yancey Brothers Co. and became the Personnel Manager. After leaving Yancey Brothers Co., Emma and Farrell moved to Lake Oconee where she retired.

Emma was an active member of Walker United Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving on the Membership Care Committee, served on a cooking team for Wednesday night suppers and volunteered at the Christian Outreach Thrift Store. Emma loved being around her family and going camping at the beach. She also enjoyed swimming, boating, reading and playing bridge. Emma was a wonderful and devoted wife to Farrell and supported her family in all their endeavors.

Emma is survived by her husband Farrell and her daughter Catherine Ann Hall of Lake Oconee; son Robert Winton Hall and wife Meredith, of Bethlehem, GA; son William Gregory Hall and wife Jan of Guyton, GA; grandchildren Kelly Suzanne Hall, Emma Katherine Hall, Robert Winton Hall Jr., William Bradley Hall, and Brian Gregory Hall.

A Funeral Service will be held at Walker United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Pike officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bradley Hall, Brian Hall, Phil Luker, Jr., Jeff Hall and Winston Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Casey. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church.
