Elmer Davis Obituary

Elmer Clinton Davis, a beloved resident of Cumming, GA, and Lima, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at The Glen in Greensboro, GA, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on February 7, 1926, in Delphos, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Gessner) Davis.

Elmer proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, earning an honorable discharge for his service. Following his military career, he pursued higher education at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. On June 6, 1952, he married Alice Jean Bowers, and together they cherished 73 beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering love and commitment.

As the owner and operator of the Acme Office Furniture and Machine business in Lima, Ohio, Elmer's leadership and dedication transformed the company into a thriving enterprise before he retired in 1989. His greatest passion, however, was caring for his family, a devotion that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Elmer was deeply involved in his faith community, first as a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio, and later at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cumming, GA. His presence enriched both congregations and left a lasting impact on those around him.

Elmer is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Jean Davis of Greensboro, GA; his children, Larry Davis (Sue) of Greensboro, GA, Linda Slade ( Matt Prisby) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and James Davis (Lidia) of Cumming, GA; his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Stancil of Johns Creek, GA, Sean (Charisse) Davis of Smyrna, GA, Austin (Brooke) Slade of North Charleston, SC, and Aliyah Davis and Gael Paniagua of Cumming, GA; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Davis and Samuel Stancil, Gavin and Harrison Byers, and Avery Slade. He also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.

A Celebration of Life service in Elmer's honor will be held on Saturday, August 16th, at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church in Eatonton, GA. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
