Elizabeth Ellene Walker Hunt of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the age of 97. A lifelong resident of Greene County she was born on December 27, 1922 to the late Edwin Turner Walker, Jr. and Ethel Ellenberg Walker. Ellene graduated from Greensboro High School in 1940 and after high school married Thad Lafayette Hunt. She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church, but more recently attended the New Covenant Church of God in Greensboro. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and helping her family. She derived much pleasure in taking care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons, Wendell Hunt of Greensboro, GA, Thad “Chuck” Hunt, Jr. (Gloria) of Ringgold, GA and Mark Hunt (Diane) of Cornville, AZ; grandchildren, Wendi May, Julie Vandiver, Kim Hunt, Amy Stewart, Karri Godbee, Ashley Snapp, John Hunt, T. J. Hunt, Justin Hunt, Jill Hunt, Amber Hunt and John Mark Hunt; numerous great and great, great grandchildren; sisters, Hilda Epstein of Atlanta, Doris Kenny and husband Joe of Augusta and Betty Kelly of Greensboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Thad Lafayette Hunt; her son, Larry Hunt; three brothers, Samuel Richard Walker, Edwin G. Walker and Franklin Deleon Walker; and two sisters, Mary Edna Walker and Faye Walker Travis.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. John Pike and Rev. Tracy Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren and great grandchildren: T. J. Hunt, Justin Hunt, Kyle Vandiver, Ryan Vandiver, John Mark Hunt and John Hunt. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service at Walker United Methodist Church.
