Elizabeth Lacey Obituary

Amanda Elizabeth Lovejoy Lacey, age 97, formerly of White Plains, GA passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. A native of Hancock County, Mrs. Lacey was the daughter of the late William Howard Lovejoy, Sr. and Ethel Mae Ethridge Lovejoy. She was born October 4, 1915 and was educated in the Hancock County school system. She married Charlie William Pierce Lacey in 1935. When health permitted, she was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church, where she played the piano for forty-six consecutive years. She also played for Mt. Zion Church in Sparta and White Plains Methodist Church. Mrs. Lacey was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening, reading and being with her family. Several years ago she moved to Hayesville, NC to be close to her daughter and family.

Mrs. Lacey was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce Lacey; and her siblings, Jeanette Cooper, Vivian Lovejoy, Thelma Blatnik, Frances Clements, Luther Coleman Lovejoy, W. H. Lovejoy, Jr. and Eric Leon Lovejoy. Survivors include her daughters, Peggy and Marvin Chitwood of Hayesville, North Carolina and Barbara and Dr. A. M. Holloway of Thomaston, GA; grandchildren, Marvin (Trey) III and Kimberly Chitwood of McDonough, GA, Aimee Chitwood of Hayesville, NC, Cynthia Holloway McDaniel and Dr. Ben McDaniel of Birmingham, AL and Dr. Greg Holloway of Savannah, GA; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Morgan, Benjamin and Whit McDaniel, Chelsey and Logan Chitwood.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2:00 p..m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Dr. Norman R. Waldrip and Bob Beeland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Marvin (Trey) Chitwood III, Greg Holloway, Marvin Bell, Ben Lovejoy, Ronnie Clements, Bill Lovejoy, Ben McDaniel and Chase Lovejoy. Honorary pallbearers are White Plains Baptist Church Deacons: Ike Moore, David Price, Wilburn Stewart, Russell Stewart, John Eley, Grant Coleman, James Coleman and Loren Leach. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at White Plains Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials be made in memory of Amanda Elizabeth Lovejoy Lacey to the White Plains Baptist Church, P. O. Box 38, White Plains, GA 30678.
