Elise Opal Wilson Patterson of Union Point, GA passed away at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA on October 26, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born April 10, 1935 in Woodville, GA to the late Emmett William Wilson and Elsie Opal Durham Wilson. Mrs. Patterson graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Home Economics Education, Masters of Science in nutrition and dietetics and a PhD in Adult Education. Having taught at MCG School of Nursing and Georgia College, Mrs. Patterson was later Director of Fulton County School Food Services, retiring in 1997. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Patterson ran a successful catering business and was an avid reader.
Elise was an active member of the Union Point Garden Club, Pilot Club of Greene County, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point, GA.
Survivors include her children, Marcia Carson Stewart (Jeffery), Bryan Carson (Chris) and William “Bill” Carson (Kathy); sister, Sherley Selman (Charles); grandchildren, Kelby Bryan Carson and Christina Celeste Carson; a number of step-grandchildren and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Veazey Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Marc Lhowe officiating. Interment will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669. Any memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
