Elaine (Ellis) Ellis

Marie Elaine Ellis of Greensboro, GA, died on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Piedmont Athens Regional at the age of 79. Elaine was born in Greensboro on December 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Clayton and Ruth Finch Ellis.  She graduated from Greensboro High School.  On May 4, 1968, she married Donald Nathan Ellis and they made their home in Greensboro, GA.  When Don was transferred to Massachusetts as Plant Manager for Universal Rundle for three years Elaine attended nursing school. When returning to Greensboro, she joined Hunter’s Drug Store where she worked for fifty years. Elaine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro.  She was known for her kind nature and big heart and was loved by everyone who knew her. She gave freely of her time to help and care for others.  Not having children of her own she doled on her step daughter, nieces and nephews.  She had a love for outdoors with any kind of yard work especially cutting grass and growing flowers. 

In addition to her husband, Don Ellis, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Ronnie Ellis, Lewis Ellis, James Ellis, Tommy Ellis and Curtis Ellis.  She is survived by her sisters, Laura Ellis Yearwood and Mary Lou Leach; brother, Billy Ellis, daughter Donna Carol Hardin (Kent) and grandson, Nicholas Miller Hardin; and her beloved cats.

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro.  The family request that any memorials be made to the St. Jude’s Research Hospital, P.
