Edward Talmadge Self

Edward Talmadge Self, age 81, of Greensboro, GA passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.  Born in Greensboro, GA on August 30, 1941, he was one of seven children born to the late William Ezra Self and Annie Claude Herndon Self.  He was raised in Greensboro, and graduated from Greene County High School. He worked at Wellington Puritan for 30 years, and he retired in 1992 as their Plant Superintendent.  He loved family, friends, metal detecting with his daughter Teresa and truly loved drag racing with his grandsons and friends.
 
Talmadge is survived by his wife, Inez Self of Greensboro, GA; children, Douglas Wade Self, Tammy Brown and husband Dwayne, Teresa Canup and husband Johnny all of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Crystal Blevins and husband Gary, Kevin Hubbard, Jr., Wayne Brown and wife Tarsha, David Brown and wife Ashley and Stephen Brown; great grandchildren, Cami Brown, Lacey Blevins, Mason Blevins, Brantley Blevins, Delaney Brown and Kayleigh Brown; along with many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and all of his siblings, William Glenn Self, Jimmy Self, Lucious Howard Self, Ruby Self, Mary Lee O’Neal and Shirley Ferguson.
 
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Blevins, Kevin Hubbard, Jr., Wayne Brown, C. G. Knight, C. G. Knight, Jr. and Gary Thomas. The family will receive friends Monday night, April 17, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at  McCommons Funeral Home.
