Edward Taylor Fowlkes, Jr., age 77, of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at his residence. Born March 15, 1948, in Orlando, Florida, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Holley Fowlkes, Sr. He received a bachelor’s from Auburn University in Aerospace Engineering in 1971, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and a master’s in management from the University of Michigan -Dearborn in 1978. He married Lynne Hadley on May 10, 1986. Ed was employed as a Design Engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.
After relocating from Northville, Michigan, he retired and moved to Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA. He was a member of Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church in Eatonton. Before moving to Greensboro from Northville, he served as an Elder at his church for 35 years. He also was a member of the Gideons. His hobbies included reading, computer gaming, and fishing. He held several patents in his name.
His survivors include his wife, Lynne Fowlkes of Greensboro, Georgia; sons, Christopher Paul Fowlkes (Nicole) and Joshua Joel Fowlkes; sister, Elizabeth Fowlkes Largent; granddaughter, Evelyn Marie Fowlkes; and his beloved Shetland Sheepdog, Dandy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Fowlkes.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024, with Reverend Jeff Birch officiating. The visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
