Edward John Chase, Jr., age 75, a resident of Greensboro, GA, died Friday, June 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Born May 30, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edward John Chase, Sr. and Bernadette Huggard Chase both of Elmont, NY. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY in 1972. On June 21, 1969 he married the former Louise Anne Barattini in Queens, NY and they recently celebrated fifty-four years of marriage. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and as a drill instructor in Parris Island, SC. He received an honorable discharge after six years of service. He was a self-employed entrepreneur for most of his career, building several successful companies and providing employment to numerous people. He retired in 2012 after forty-seven years. Over the years they lived in Johnson City, TN and before that Charlotte, NC, Denver, CO, New York, Georgia, and South Carolina. Eleven years ago, they moved to Harbor Club in Greensboro where he was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. He was an exceptional chef and baker.
In addition to his wife, Louise Chase of Greensboro, survivors include his son, Edward J. Chase III (Kristopher Ippolito) of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Johanna Dooley (Glen) of Latham, NY and Bernadette Bourazeris of New Hyde Park, NY; brothers, Robert Chase (Maureen) of Smithtown, NY, William Chase (Cindy) of California and John Chase of Smithtown, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Entler (William) of Rockville Centre, NY, his sister-in-law Constance Kleinberg (Albert), of Matthews, NC, and his brother-in-law James Bourazeris of New Hyde Park, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Adam Blatt officiating.
