Dr. Robert "Bobby" Harris Durham

Dr. Robert Harris “Bobby” Durham passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at The Haven at Lake Oconee at the age of 93. Born on August 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Columbus Joseph Durham and Mattie Leona Bethea Durham. On March 17, 1957, he married Nancy Jo McCommons. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Knox. Following his military service, Dr. Durham graduated from the University of Georgia in 1961 with a degree in veterinary medicine. 

After his father’s retirement, Dr. Durham continued the family tradition, practicing as a veterinarian in Greene County at Durham Veterinary Clinic, which has served the community for over 100 years. He had the honor of working alongside his father, Dr. C. J. Durham, as well as with his son, Dr. Rob Durham Jr.  When he wasn’t practicing veterinary medicine, Bobby enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bee keeping, and most of all going to grandchildren’s events.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jo Durham, and sister, Mary Durham Caldwell. Survivors include his sons, Dr. Robert “Rob” H. Durham, Jr. and his wife, Angela, and Daniel “Dan” R. Durham and his wife, Becky, both of Greensboro, GA; his brother, Joe Durham, and his wife, Betty, of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, Trey Durham, Morgan Burks (Charlie), Daniel Durham (Kensley), and Dana Janes (Peyton); six great-grandchildren, Madison Burks, A. J. “Aaron” Janes, Walker Durham, Cameron Burks, Ellie Jo Durham and Jenna Janes; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 South Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Rev. Mark Jones and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. The pallbearers will be Trey Durham, Daniel Durham, Peyton Janes, Charlie Burks, Jay Durham, and Russ Durham.
