Dr. Richard John Montgomery

Dr. Richard John Montgomery, 86, of Greensboro, Georgia died January 14, 2021. He was born March 29, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA to Mathew John Montgomery and Anna Tomlinson.

Richard earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from West Chester State Teachers College, a Master’s from American University and Johns Hopkins University in Biology and Education, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Maryland.

Richard married Adele Simpkins, September 20, 1958 and enjoyed 62 years together.  They raised 4 sons; Steve, Scott, Dave and Todd in Hagerstown, MD.  Richard enjoyed a long and successful career as an educator.  He retired from teaching after 41 years in 1999 as a Biology professor from Hagerstown Community College.

In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and vacationing with his sons and their families.  Richard is survived by his wife, 4 sons, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Due to COVID there will be no public funeral service.
