Dr. Joseph Eugene DeJunco, age 69, of Eatonton, GA, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was born in Havanna Cuba on September 25, 1953, and was the son of the late Jose Andres and Norma Fernandez DeJunco. On June 13, 1980 he married the former Maria Cristina Fuentes and they would have soon celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. He graduated from State University of New York and earned his medical degree from Ross University Medical School. In 1986 they moved from New York to Georgia and he continued to practice medicine at various Atlanta Hospitals as a Cardiologist. He was Catholic and a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro. He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was multi talented and enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood work and cooking.
His survivors include his wife, Maria DeJunco of Eatonton, GA; his only son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Raymond DeJunco and Claire of Alpharetta, GA; three grandchildren, Declan Joseph DeJunco, Cameron Michael DeJunco and Mia Catherine DeJunco; brother and sister-in-law, Luis and Elizabeth DeJunco; and nephew, Andy DeJunco along with many, many friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Silloway officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Honey Creek Woodlands, 2625 Highway 212 S.W., Conyers, GA 30094. Those serving as pallbearers are Andrew DeJunco, Andy DeJunco, John Kalinkos, Peter DeJunco, Dominic Carreira and Alberto Santamaria. A visitation will be held at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.
