Dorsey Victor Jones, Jr., age 84, of Eatonton, Georgia, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Calhoun, Alabama, he was born November 25, 1920 to the late Dorsey Victor Jones, Sr. and Mary Fitzgerald Jones. During World War II he served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp. He was a pilot who loved to fly and soar above the earth. Now he has taken his final flight to be with the Lord. During his working career he was a bookkeeper and had lived in Eatonton for the last twenty years. Dorsey was a fine Christian man who put the Lord first in his life. He loved his wife and children and they loved him. He raised his children with good Christian morals and taught them to love. We were blessed to have had him for our father.
He is survived by two daughters, two sons and four grandchildren, Victoria Turner and husband Dan of Eatonton, GA and their son, Carl Turner and wife Tonya, Tinsley Baker and husband Mark of Snellville, GA and their sons, Colin Baker and Chris Baker, Matterson St. Clair Jones of Thomasville, GA and his children Sarah Elizabeth Jones and Austin Jones and Malcolm W. Jones of Thomasville, GA. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Hugh McDonald and husband Mack, Virginia Doss and Betty Crowell; a brother, Robert "Bud" Jones and wife Jackie; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette Wilkins Jones in 2003. A Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, GA with Rev. Dan Turner officiating.
