Dorothy "Dot" Passarella Obituary

Dorothy Louise (Schermeister) “Dot” Passarella, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Buckhead, Georgia, on April 3, 2024. Born on June 16, 1928, in Melrose Park, Illinois, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Marjorie Weed and Dorothy's children: Lou Passarella Jr, Elizabeth Roberts, Larry (Cheryl) Passarella, John Passarella, Ken (Jill) Passarella, and Susan (Donald) Shearouse. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love extended to her numerous grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Guild, Dayna (Ryan) Peterson, Lisa Smith, Laura (Brad) Ewing, John Passarella Jr, Ashley Passarella, Crista (Aaron) Quinn, Daniel (Nicole) Shearouse, Olivia (Adam) Karbiener, Dr Linsey (Shay Gregory) Passarella, Donald Passarella Jr, Robert (Stephanie) Passarella, and Lee Ann Passarella. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Louise (Schermeister) Passarella's journey through life was marked by warmth, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family. Born and raised in suburban Chicago, Dorothy's formative years were enriched by the melodies of piano keys, a skill she mastered at a young age. Her childhood was also defined by cherished moments spent alongside her father in his Oak Park pharmacy, instilling in her a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family bonds.

In 1950, Dorothy embarked on a new chapter of her life as she exchanged vows with her beloved husband Louis J Passarella Sr. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and the joy of building a family. Their adventures took them to various corners of the country, from Texas to New Jersey, before finally settling in Chamblee, Georgia. It was here that Dorothy found fulfillment in her role as a dedicated employee of the IRS for over 20 years.

In 2000, Dorothy and her husband embraced a new chapter of their lives as they settled in the serene surroundings of Buckhead, Georgia. Here, amidst the tranquility of their new home, Dorothy continued to create an environment of warmth and kindness, good food, and welcoming to all.

Dorothy left a legacy and cherished tradition of the family’s summer retreat in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where memories are forever woven into the fabric of their lives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Louis J Passarella Sr, and her son, Donald (Sara) Passarella Sr. While she will be deeply missed by her family and friends, her memory will forever remain in their hearts, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that knew no bounds.
