Donald Rex Skinner

Donald Rex “Don” Skinner, age 80, of the Liberty Community died Saturday, July 25, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, GA.  Born in Marianna, FL on December 3, 1939 he was the son of the late Daniel Rex Skinner and Martha Talley.  He grew up in Marianna, FL where he graduated from high school.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married the former Michaelle “Mickey” Phillips and they moved to Greene County twenty years ago.  He was a Teamster Representative for the Teamster Union Local 528.  As long as health permitted Don was a faithful member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4706 in Decatur, GA and a member of the Riverdale Lodge #709 F & AM.  Don enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends.  He had a great personality, loved his family and everybody loved him.
 
Don is survived by his wife of twenty years, Mickey Skinner; daughters, Kim Skinner Thompson (Chuck), Judy Mason (Robert) and Robin McPherson; grandchildren: Anthony, Jennifer (Heath), Jeremy (Danielle), Caleb, Joshua (Lashera), Donald, Jr., Cody, Shane, Brandon and Robbie; great grandchildren: Zeke, Emma, Ashlyn, Brady, Raelynn, Alexis, Jaeden, Autumn, John Lawton, and Trista; brother, Dolphin Skinner; sisters, Brenda Jackson and Sharon Skinner; step daughter, Lynn Facey (Brook); stepson, Alex Sanders; step grandson, Stewart; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Skinner, Sr.; a daughter, Candance Adams; and sisters, Jean Clay and Joann Thompson.

A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3091 Liberty Church Road, White Plains, GA  30678 with Rev.
