Don Robert Heath, resident of Union Point, Georgia died on Friday, August 18, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born in Waurika, OK on November 8, 1932 to the late Audie C. Heath and Leota Sharrock Heath and was raised by his beloved grandparents, Tom and Estella Sharrock. Don graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, OK. He earned his Aeronautical Engineering Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He joined the United States Air Force out of high school and fought in the Korean War. On July 7, 1984 he married the former Patricia Ann Watkins. During his working career he worked for Brantley Helicopters in Frederick, Oklahoma, taught as a civilian at Fort Rucker, Alabama in particular teaching pilots for Vietnam and ending his career as a flight inspector in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After retirement he moved to Union Point where he has lived since 2004. He loved fishing, reading westerns and travelling. He was a world traveller but he always said the United States was his favorite place to travel. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Pat Heath of Union Point, GA; sons, Larry Don “Scud” Heath (Paula) and Bradley Heath; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
