Dillard Davison Obituary

Dillard Davison of Greensboro, GA, age 88, died Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Savannah Court in Greensboro, GA.  A native of Franklin County born December 12, 1931, he was one of twelve children of the late James Henry “Jim” and Edna Irene Cothran Davison.  He grew up in Carnesville, GA and graduated from Carnesville High School in Franklin County.  From 1953 until 1961 he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Military Policeman.  On June 30, 1970 he married the former Cecilia Caton.  During his working career, Dillard was a programmer for Cotton States Insurance Company retiring in 1990.  He was an assistant coach in softball for Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.  In 1995 they moved to Greensboro, GA from Dunwoody, where he enjoyed fishing on Lake Oconee.  Every year Dillard and Cecilia would travel to Santee Cooper, SC to fish.  He was a member of Walker United Methodist Church having served on the finance Committee for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Cecilia Davison of Greensboro, GA; children, Cheryl Davis of Jacksonville, FL, Robby Davison (Susan) of Stuart, FL, Melanie Laurence and Gregory Davison; grandsons, Samuel and Nicholas Davis and Shane Davison; sisters, Lorene Davison of Carnesville, GA, Ruth Sparks of Commerce, GA, and Pauline Farr of North Augusta, SC; brother, Olin Davison of Carnesville, GA; a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Ashworth, Thelma Fleischer, Betty Ann Davison and Jimmie Lou Sharp; and brothers, Doyle Davison, Ellis Davison and Lamar Davison. 

Graveside Services will be Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. John W. Pike, Jr. officiating.  Memorials may be made to Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
