Delores Gail Merritt “Lois” Leach, age, 79, of the Liberty Community died on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Greensboro, GA on December 9, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of Greene County and the daughter of the late Reid Ceils Merritt and Belle Lewis Merritt. She attended school at Siloam as a child and Greensboro High School. On July 19, 1959 she married Billy Leach. For many years she worked in Greensboro for Channell’s Grocery and also Lord’s ABC as a butcher. Later she helped her husband in his cleaning business. She was a hard worker, love to cut grass and was a great cook. Lois was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Billy Leach of the Liberty Community include a son, Keith Leach (Katie) of the Liberty Community; a sister, Sybil Godbee and her husband Marion; brother, Ceils Merritt and his wife Carol; four grandchildren: Amber Wheeler, Marcus Leach, Noah Leach and Erin Leach; great grandchild, Anslee Leach; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Doyle Merritt, Ruby Nell Powell, Louise Atkinson, and Jack Merritt.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Randy Godbee officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3091 Liberty Church Road, White Plains, GA 30678. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Smith, Cecil Powell, Jeffery Merritt, Darrell Merritt, David Nation and Craig Wheeler. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
