Debra Lyn (Cole) Morris

Debra Lyn Morris (Debbie) of Buckhead, Georgia, died in her home on April 29, 2023, after a long courageous battle against cancer.  She set a daily example by living her life with honesty, integrity, determination, and kindness.  She encouraged everyone she met and touched the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her.

Born in Decatur, Georgia on December 25, 1954, she is the daughter of Rama and the late Aubrey Alton Cole, Jr.  She graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School and married her best friend, Gary Morris on November 10, 1972.  Debbie loved being able to raise her five children in Buckhead, on Lake Oconee.  She loved to travel to the beach, going out on the lake and spending time with her family.  Debbie was a living embodiment of selflessness and gratitude.  She was a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife and a proud mother and grandmother.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Cole; her brother Richard (Mike) Cole and her grandson Jordan Morris.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Morris; her mother, Rama Cole; her brother, Aubrey (Butch) Cole (Donna); and her children: John Morris (Jodi), Wesley Morris (Christi), BJ Morris, Brandon Morris (Nicole), and Amanda Morris Reynolds (Terry).  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jonathan Morris (Kayley), Joshua Morris, JoAnna Morris, Hannah Morris, Kylie Morris, Rylee Morris, Layla Morris, Mackenzie Morris, Charlotte Morris, Evan Morris, Emma Hullinger, Aubrey Hullinger, and Gary Hullinger.  Debbie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Ralph Boswell officiating.  The family will have a private visitation from 4;30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
