Deborah Ann Barnes Moore, a beloved lifelong resident of White Plains, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Wellstar MCG in Augusta, Georgia. She was born on September 18, 1952, in Greensboro, GA, to the late Hugh Dorsey Barnes and Marjorie “Flip” Amos Barnes. A graduate of Greene County High School, Deborah married William Frank Moore on August 27, 1972. Deborah was widely known for her dedicated work as an administrative assistant at Nathanael Greene Academy, where she was always ready to accommodate anyone who needed help. She was an avid reader, a true southern cook, and always let others know she was thinking about them by mailing them a special occasion card. She loved taking care of family and loved ones.
Deborah’s most cherished role was that as “Ma” to her four grandchildren. No bond was stronger than that with her grandchildren. She cared for them with her whole heart, and never missed an opportunity to show them her love.
She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-three years, Frank Moore, and her two sons: W. Russ Moore (Suzanne) of White Plains, GA, and Steven L. Moore (Kathryn) of Rincon, GA. Deborah was the proud grandmother of Will Moore and Darby Kate Moore of White Plains, GA, and Wesley Moore and William Moore of Rincon, GA. She also leaves behind three sisters: Elaine Bowman and Peggy Shaffer, both of Jacksonville, FL, and Martha Ann Shupe (Ron) of Loganville, GA, along with numerous other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Barnes.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678. Reverend Dennis Garner will officiate, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Serving as pallbearers are John Rhodes, Richard Dunagan, Ryan Amos, Adam Taylor, Billy Marchman Jr., and Keith Edwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Deborah’s memory or the organization of their choice. Arrangements are being handled by McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626. The online guest register may be signed at www.mccommonsfuneralhome.com.
