Deborah Durshimer Jones-Preston, a resident of Farmington, GA, passed away at her home on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 73. Born in Sylvester, Georgia, on September 26, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Jack Cole and Barbara Ann Camp Durshimer. She was a dedicated lifelong learner, having graduated from Fieldale-Collinsville High School in Virginia and earning degrees from several institutions: DeKalb Junior College, the University of Georgia, and Macon State College. Throughout her career, Deborah pursued diverse roles, including nursing, real estate, massage therapy, and working as a photo journalist editor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ray Preston, whom she married in Greene County on April 1, 2005.
Deborah was an active member of her community, serving as a founding member of the Greensboro Art Alliance, a member of the Greensboro Women’s Club, member of Walker Methodist Church, and board member of the Circle of Love and Domestic Violence Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Silvey (Rick) of Union Point, GA; her son, Justin Jones (Caitlyn) of Warner Robins, GA; and her grandchildren Chloe, Sterling, and Mallory.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later time. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to an Animal Rescue Group in either Greene or Oconee County.
