Deborah Arlene (Snipes) Hartwell

Deborah Arlene Snipes Hartwell of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens. She was 73 years old. Born in Greensboro, Georgia, on August 16, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Billy Jack Snipes and Vivian Hembree Snipes. She graduated from Greene County High School. Deborah worked for many years as a meat market clerk at Kroger and Ingles, retiring in 2014. She enjoyed bowling as a recreational activity.

In addition to her father, Billy Jack Snipes and her mother Vivian Hembree Snipes, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vanessa Crawford, and brothers, Danny Snipes and Jackie Snipes.

Survivors include her daughter, Sonia Collier, and son-in-law, Neil McDonald, of Athens, Georgia; her son, Heath Hartwell, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hartwell, of Watkinsville, Georgia; her brother, Michael Snipes; her fiancé, James Scott Channell of Greensboro, Georgia; stepdaughter, Brelan and Cole Alridge; stepson, Alan Channell; and grandchildren, Judson, Vivian, Thomas, Houston, Jace, Erik and Evan.

A celebration of life will be held at the home of Heath and Jennifer Hartwell, located in Watkinsville, Georgia, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and are encouraged to bring photographs of Deborah.
