David Lawrence "Red" Jones

David Lawrence “Red” Jones of Conyers, GA died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Savannah Court of Lake Oconee at the age of 77.  Born August 17, 1946, in Atlanta, GA he was the son of the late Evan Jones and Nancy Irene Fowler Jones.  After graduating from Lithonia High School in 1964, he served in the United States Navy- BT3 on the USS America (CVA 66), during the Vietnam War. During his working career, he was an offset pressman for Graphic Communications in Atlanta, GA from where he later retired.  He loved fishing, hunting, football, was an avid Georgia Tech fan and loved Braves baseball. 

Survivors include his former wife, Donna Jones; daughter Heather Clanton (Chris) of Greensboro, GA; son, Cory Jones of Conyers, GA; sister, Yvonne Melson of Conyers, GA; grandchildren, Sydney Clanton and Macie Clanton both of Greensboro, GA; and many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jerry Melson.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Hillandale Memorial Park in Lithonia, GA, with Rev. Jim Martin officiating.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
