David Harley Evans

David Harley Evans, age 73, of Union Point, GA died Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional.  Born August 10, 1949 in Athens, GA, he was the son of the late James Evans and Leeila Watson Parks both of Commerce, GA.  On March 15, 1986 he married the former Donna Sue Saylers of Union Point.  For 43 years he worked for Greene Supply Company as their truck driver along with many other duties.  He attended West End Baptist Church in Greensboro, GA. Yard work, anything outside and taking rides in his truck were his favorite pastimes.  He was a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Sue Evans of Union Point, GA; son, David O. Evans of Union Point, GA; daughters, Jady C. Long (Steven) of Milledgeville, GA and Charity Shockley (Chris) of Union Point, GA; 8 grandchildren: Jesse, Jacedy, Alexis, Alyssa, Aveana, Madison, Steven and Austin; 4 great grandchildren: Evelyn, Easton, Addilyn and Chloe; brother, Robert Pierce Evans; and a great number of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Leeila Watson Parks; father, James William Evans; and brother, Ronnie Anthony of Oakland, GA.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel  with Rev. Robert Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642.  Serving as pallbearers are David Evans, Chris Shockley, Paul Evans, Dan Fitch, Steven Long and Austin Evans. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
