David Anderson Obituary

David Michael Anderson, 78, Husband, Father, PopPop and Mentor passed away on August 21, 2022.  He is survived by his loving wife and sweetheart Leslie Anderson of 40 years, his son D. Michael Anderson (Gwen) of GA, daughter Elyse Anderson of NC, grandchildren Danielle Shander, Megan Shander, Nathan Anderson, Justin Pate, great grandson Liam Pate, sister Barbara Hozik (Jim), brother-in-law John Kubran (Sandy), sister-in-law Paige Glover (Billy), and sister-in-law Leigh Anne Simmons (Scott).

He was preceded in death by his parents Pierre and Loretta Anderson, sisters Janet Kubran, Virginia Anderson and nephew Peter Kubran.

Dave was born June 15, 1944 in Nyack, New York, graduated Fordham Preparatory school in New York City and later attended Niagara University where he played college hockey. He was inducted to the Army on St. Patrick’s Day in 1966 where he was stationed at Fort McClellan, AL.  After discharge from the Army in 1968, he moved back to New York and joined IBM.  During his time at IBM, Dave completed his college education graduating from Dominican College in 1974.  Dave also spent many a night and weekends working on cars not only as a hobby, with his brother-in-law John, but as a way to earn extra money to support his growing family.

Dave transferred with IBM to Atlanta, GA in 1976.  He was active building and maintaining a farm in Woodstock, GA.  Dave was a life long golfer, playing in the early years with his father, brother-in-laws John and Jim, and Uncle Tom. Many a bet was wagered and lost by his dad and Uncle Tom.

Dave was an internal manager that oversaw the largest in house inquiry sales system for IBM.  He spent long hours serving as the liaison on several reorganizations between Sales and I/S.  He was well respected and known by many in different divisions within the company.  He was very quick witted and could tell jokes with the best of them.

After retirement from IBM, he worked seven more years with Business Technology Group serving as a consultant to IBM.  He retired in 1999 moving to Gulf Shores, AL where he enjoyed coastal living, limitless golf and serving as President of the Craft Farms men’s golf association.

Dave and Leslie moved back to Georgia to be closer to family, settling at the Del Webb community in 2018.  They are members of Christ Our King and Savior Church.

Services will be held at Christ Our King and Savior on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Dave will eternally rest at Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA.
