Darlene Lankford Carter, age 90 of Covington, GA, died at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA on Friday, October 28, 2022. She was born on May 10, 1932, in Union Point, GA, one of 10 children born to the late Jesse and Cleo Agnes Turner Lankford. She was raised in Union Point and attended Union Point High School. Darlene worked at Dekalb Office Equipment in customer service. Before she lived in Covington, she lived in Loganville where she was a member of Eastern Star. Darlene was also a member of First Baptist Church of Youth in Loganville. One of her favorite pastimes was reading.
Survivors include a son, David Williford; grandchildren, Jennifer Darlene Williford, and Ronald Clyde Williford; four great granddaughters and three great grandsons; three sisters, Jeannette Carter of Eatonton, GA, Joyce Dale and her husband Delbert of Stone Mountain, GA and Gail Sturdivant of Bonaire, GA; two brothers, Bobby Lankford of Stephens, GA, and Charles Lankford and his wife Sandra of Danielsville, GA; other relatives and many friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter; son, Gary Lewis Williford; three brothers, Clarence Lankford, Roger Lankford and Walter Lankford; a sister, Betty Campbell; and a grandson, Duane Williford.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Todd Heil officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Russell Lankford, Keith Lankford, Geoff Dale, Scott Dale and Grayson McQueen. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
